From this site you can explore the images of the entire project. These are set out in groups:-
First by year – e.g. 1997, 1998, ... 2001/1 (the first of two seasons in 2001).
Second by Flight and Date within each season. NB the date is presented in reverse order in each case (YYYYMMDD) – e.g. (1998) Flight 2, 19980510
We are currently working from both ends: -
Already digitized and available for viewing on Flickr is the relatively small group of 219 images from 1997 which were originally recorded on 35 mm slide film. In progress is the digitization of over 2000 colour slides from 1998 (a much bigger season with ten flights). Next will come 1999, 2000 etc.
At the same time the cataloguing and tagging is in progress of all the digital images from our most recent season (2008) then we will turn to the digital images of 2007, 2006 etc.
Both processes are labour-intensive, checking geocodes and providing comprehensive keywords. Beginning with the 2008 photographs some of this is embedded automatically in the metadata by the camera.
